Two US agencies announced today that MOWA will be closing for training, effective tomorrow and lasting until July 24th. One agency reminded their clients that MOWA handles both pre- and post-court paperwork; the closing not only affects abandonment cases waiting for new court dates, but it affects all cases waiting for court dates, cases scheduled for that time, as well as people who have already passed court and are waiting for travel clearance.

  4. MOWA and the courts should just stay open for 2 more weeks after they are supposed to close just to hear all of our cases!!!

  6. Besides being mad at the situation, I am mad at all of our agencies- one would think that they could have power and influence concerning the wellbeing of the abandoned children but it seems like they are just like us- powerless. We need to put pressure on them to make sure that they are advocating on our behalf. This is a crisis, and I dont think they are treating it like one.

  7. I cannot even believe this. Really, they would think of doing this to us after what we have been through? Just when I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, another bomb drops. Unbelievable.

I am hoping that there is a silver lining, like perhaps court is not closing. Then I could deal with the 2 week training a lot better. Going to think a lot of positive thoughts tonight for a good day tomorrow.

  8. What "2 US Agencies"? This sounds like one of those things that turns out to be an urban legend....

  9. i cannot even imagine what sort of reasoning went into this decision. never in my wildest nightmares would i have imagined this latest "hurdle". what a bunch of clowns... this is so outlandish that part of me has to believe it's totally a misunderstanding or that MOWA is going to "pre-write" letters for all the cases. really didn't see this coming. and scares me to wonder - what will they think of next????????

  10. Our agency informed us today of the MOWA closure. It is the first time they have officially confirmed anything in regards to this enture situation. They have been so careful as to not speak to any of the rumors- so I am confident that what they are saying about MOWA is true. They are pretty certain that while MOWA is closed there will be no letters written for the courts. Our agnecy is still saying nothinig has been shared with absolute certainty with them as to when abandoned cases will be heard/scheduled. So we keep waiting...
As difficult as all this is, I continue to remind myself that the courts truly are looking out for the best interest of families- making certain that babies are not being stolen/sold. Although it does place those of us who desire to bring our babies home in a difficult position, it speaks volumes that they are in fact trying to protect their children. In a situation that at so many times has seemed so senseless and hopeless it has been an incredible comfort to me to know that God is sovereign over all of these affairs. Please know that my husband and I are praying for each one of you that are journeying with us as we wait for our babies. We do not know your names or your stories, but God knows who you are and we trust that He is hearing our prayers on your behalf. Praying for some bits of encouragement for everyone tonight.

  11. Hi Joe,

People from 2 different agencies emailed me with this information. I was told which agencies, but was asked not to post them on the board. I just post what I am given as far as what agencies are saying, and of course you may choose to assume everything is rumor until your own agency tells you otherwise. Hope that helps :)
