An email:
I have just come home to find a message on my answering machine from my [European] agency: they (in turn) got a phone call from their chairman, who seems to be in addis abbaba right now, that the ban is finally lifted. the in-country rep was asked to come to court tomorrow (wednesday) to hand in our papers (and those of the other applicants) in order to apply for a new court date. the agency reckons that it might take some time until we get news about our new court date but the application process is going to start tomorrow.
*Note: This is now 4 European agencies (from 3 different countries) and 4 US agencies who were told to come on Wednesday with their paperwork.
(3 Europeans): In Spain 2 agencies Inform their clients - (1 in Galicia and 1 in Barcelona).

ReplyDeleteWow…this was posted almost an hour ago! I think we all must be getting a tad jaded….. Ordinarily ANY word, rumor, or subtle suggestion of the ban being lifted would have us all feverishly hopeful and posting like a pack of wild dogs…. I am, of course, TRYING to remain optimistic…..but I think we’ve all just heard it too many times to get too excited only to be disappointed again….
ReplyDeleteMy agency comfirmed the same. They also mentioned the rumors about no court-closure. But that's just a rumour...
ReplyDeleteI believe something is *supposed* to happen tomorrow. Now whether it actually will, I'm not holding my breath, but with all these agencies being told to come in on Wed I think they really are intending on giving out new court dates tomorrow. They'll probably change their minds and say "come back another time", but for now, I think they do intend on doing something tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteIt doesn't sound at all to me like there will be new court dates tomorrow. It sounds like the agencies have to resubmit our cases for court dates. Seems like the wait will continue while they sift through those files and assign new court dates. There has to be hundreds of us waiting. Don't get your hopes up for any big announcements tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI'm anon 9:51. I agree with you, I didn't mean we'd actually hear what our new dates are going to be tomorrow. I don't expect a big announcement, but do hope to hear that cases were accepted for re-submission.

ReplyDeleteEven though I have a feeling it will take a bit of time to get a court date, it will be a good feeling to know that we would be getting one. Remember when this all happened in May. I was so freaked out thinking I may never see our baby...atleast we know that one day we will have our babies and children!
ReplyDeleteI have a court date on Thursday....so no longer rumors, it is real....have been on hold since May.....so believe it sisters!

ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean you had a court date last week? How is that possible? Do you mean that your original court date was for last week? Because 11:13 sounds like they got theirs today....
ReplyDeletePeople have been having court dates throughout this whole process, but not passing because the ban was in place. Anon 11:13, please tell us all you know! Did you just get your court date, or have you had it for awhile? Is this your 1st date, or a rescheuled one because your 1st wasn't heard? Do they think the ban will be lifted before thursday and you'll pass?
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:36 Our court date was in May 12th but we didn't pass because of the ban. There was last Thursday a court date but we didn't pass again. Our rep has been told to appear tomorrow in court - as many others.
ReplyDeleteWe were told that last Thursday was to REQUEST a new court date, not an actual court date. Did you have an actual court date?

ReplyDelete@Anon 12:10: I don't understand either. But fact is we are still waiting. We had really hopes to pass our case, so I don't think our rep was just playing safe. We'll see what news we get from todays meeting.
