An agency update:
[US Agency] has learned that there is an unexpected closure of the Ethiopian Ministry of Women's Affairs (MOWA) until July 28th. As you are probably aware, MOWA is involved in preparing letters for the court hearings. We are not yet sure what impact the Ministry closure will have on court cases that have been scheduled during this time. It is possible that they may be postponed and rescheduled before the court closure.

I know there are some court dates that start tomorrow. If anybody hears of an abandonment case passing could they post? I am curious to know if MOWA will start writing letters like the judge requested.
ReplyDeleteHey anon-
ReplyDelete4 cases have already passed, 3 yesterday and 1 today, but they all had their MOWA letters from before the ban. At least 2 cases that I know have not passed due to NOT having the MOWA letter; one of these cases has already received their new court date for the end of July. It will definitely be interesting to see what happens with all these cases scheduled for tomorrow and Monday.
Do we have any idea how many cases are scheduled for Fri and Mon. We don't have any in my agency that I know of.
ReplyDeleteFantastic EthioPap will you continue to list the information (and if the cases (not) passing had a MOWA letter etc.) in your **Update summary post? This summary is quite a good help. :-)
ReplyDeleteSure anon! I will. I'll repost it later, too, so it's easier to find.
