An email:

My agency from [European country] just called me at 14:45pm and he said that the process is OVER, and between Monday and Wednesday they give new courts dates.

He told me that he spoke with two more agencies here in [European country] and they said the same.

The lawyer that is working for our agency ( for more than 7 years) thinks that it is possible that the court date is in before summer time.

  7. I am going nuts because the state department is closed today and there is no way to check in with them. I hope that this info is not more of the same stringing along that we have been getting. G-d! Especially for the family waiting SIXTEEN months.

Also, to keep all in perspective, one of the families in our agency was completely screwed today - they were supposed to travel (not an abandonment case) and because of STUPID typo on their visa that they tried to correct two weeks ago they cannot travel. Basically, this process is CRAP for everyone....not only us (abandonment situation). Oh and they have been waiting a very long time too.

  8. our agency (U.S.) told us yesterday to expect an announcement today. They were in court this morning (ethiopia time) and told to wait until noon. Then they were told to come back Monday. They heard them tell another agency to come back Tuesady.

Hope this is resolved soon. those kids need to come home

  9. If that is the case, anon 10:30, then maybe we are really close. This is going to be a very long weekend...my first unenjoyable 4th! by the way, your agency is working today? impressive!

  10. Anon 10:30, I guess that explains why agencies all get different information and at different times. I'm convinced the court tells everyone something different.

  11. It seems to be a good sign in the right way.
But I am still anxious to give too much hope in all that.
Too many disappointings in the past :-(

Have you got any idea, how they want to handle all these new court dates. From the latest answers it appears as if the reps of every agency have to go to court for asking about a new court date?

There is again hope in me, but I am really really afraid to be disappointed again..

    Thanks for the information!!!

  12. Everyone try to have a decent weekend...at least I hope you all eat well at your bbqs (in the US). PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let Monday be our day!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Americans all seem to eat well, at least most of them look like that ;-)

Personally, I don´t believe in nothing anymore.
Let us just see how they will postpone and postpone all the meetings again and again...

  14. Now was that a bit rude or was it just teasing in a friendly way? ;) On the other hand we all know that we europeans smoke and drink like crazy ;)
I have a good feeling about monday! I hope that as the next week proceeds, we will all have good news!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Wow, and i thought the string yesterday was rude. Lets just all enjoy our vices and hope for good news.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yeah, that was rude. At least our teeth look good. :)

  17. I think it was not on purpose, maybe would have been funny in the persons own language or face to face. And I can say almost anything about europeans since I'm one of them :D ...was just trying to soften the edges, maybe it didn't work out too well ;)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm a fat American and I think they meant it in fun. No hard feelings!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I am a skinny american works hard and eats well too. There are so many ways I could peg the rude behaviors or british and europeans, but I wont.

  20. I am a fat European American who drinks and smokes!!! JK (as my daughter says!) You guys are funny. Hopefully blowing some steam...

  22. You mean, that they will not close the court in August/September?
That would of course be GREAT!!!

  23. I always thought, that only the Europeans drink and smoke *lol*
If you go to Mallorca (a spanish island in the mediterranean see) you can see lots of British and Germans, you would hope never to have seen ;-)))

  24. This is a funny conversation between cultures and stereotypes....I "back packed" (stayed in pensions and hotels) Europe one summer in my mid 20's. I went to ten different countries and all of them were so different. I LOVED seeing not only the land, but getting to meet the people. I traveled without an itinerary and did not know where I would lay my head that evening when I woke up. That allowed me to go where I felt like going and meet who I wanted to meet. If I had just gone to one country I would have the stereotype of just that country for all Europeans. Just like in the States...depending on where you live, we are all so different. In how we look and how we act. Some states are more fit and some states are more friendly. I hate to bring it up....there are many many Americans that have stereotypes of African Americans that are not positive. This is a good conversation to "practice" how to handle stereotypes when other people say or do something that hurts our feelings...or something hurtful is said about our child/children.

Praying that the current rumors are true! :)

BTW...I am a fit chubby American. I work out but I am going to enjoy my bbq today without worry about the calories! :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Enjoy your BBQ and let us all hope for the best next week :-)

Petra from Munich (Germany)where almost everybody drinks beer :-))))

  26. Happy 4th of July to all americans. I'm a chubby european. Love that part about pursuit of happiness!

  27. We had our 4th of July party yesterday on the third. We had tacos, and margaritas, not bbq. We live where it has not rained in 6 weeks and we have had over 100 degree temps for over 10 days. It is too hot to bbq. No fireworks either,,,to dry. Our height to weight ratio is pretty good.

  28. petra....during my cross Europe trip...one of my favorite moments came on my our way to Munich...we were on the train going to Munich when one of my friends said that she wanted to go to Wimbledon...we decided to get off the train and head toward Wimbledon and were there that evening...waited in line on the street (slept there!)and were able to get tickets! I love Germany...my favorite city was Bern. The market was there the day we were there and it was fun to experience all the local "things" for sale.

    ReplyDelete
  29. anon...10:05...you must be in my part of the country...Houston???

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bern is the capitol of Switzerland, my American friend. That's a different country from Germany ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  31. :-)))))

Also just wanted to say, that Bern is unfortunately not in Germany ;-)
Or did you mean Berlin? Berlin is in Germany.
Nevertheless, I am happy that we all still have a littlebit to love about. Although we are facing hard moments...

Best wishes to everybody alround the world :-)
    Petra

  33. sorry, of course I wanted to say: Laugh instead of love ;-)

    And around instead of alround.

    Excuse me :-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Andechs, okay, you SURE stayed in Munich then ;-)))

The beer is really heavy in Andechs, I know :-)

Would you give me the favour to come and visit Munich, me and Andechs again, if all our problems are solved?
    You are very welcome :-)

  36. Anon @ 10:05. How'd ya guess. NW of the city. The heat and dryness is oppressive. I have lived here all of my life and this is aweful!

    ReplyDelete
  37. WOW....I had not idea that my good wishes would launch such a string of convo! Haha...glad to see that folks are in decent enough spirits to joke around and make friends internationally, inviting one another to visit. THAT is what this blog is about. To the one who said that this was a good lesson in sensitivity - I agree!!! It is so easy to just say the "wrong" thing...and my guess is that we will all perceive comments as deragatory from time to time even when they are said with the best of intentions. To the one that said that they have a good feeling about Monday - I agree...I have a good feeling about next week in general...my gut was dead on for our referral - to the day. So...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
