The US agency that had court dates scheduled for next Monday has had them re-scheduled for after MOWA reopens. (This is the agency that was told the judge would ask MOWA to have staff available to write the letters.) They believe they received some of the first rescheduled appointments for abandonment cases since they were one of the first to petition the court to hear their cases.
This agency also reported that on Friday an official announcement was made that the courts will stay open through the rainy season.
*That makes 2 US agencies who have announced that there will definitely be no closure.

let's go NO CLOSURE!
ReplyDeleteno closure, no closure, no closure. C'MON no closure!!!
we've been waiting for some truly good news after months of bad new (or no news). a suspension of the closure would indeed be good news!
One of our families just recieved a court date of 8/10 with is inside the "close date range" I pray for the court to remain open.
ReplyDeleteDo you really believe in any good news anymore?
ReplyDeleteI do not.
To me this all seems like a neverending story and they are just laughing about us.
I am sure, they will close.
I beleive in good news. Cases are being rescheduled. A few people have passed all ready. This one may just be a rumor, but really, if you look at all the things the various agencies have said over the past couple months, most have them have or are coming true. I have hope!
ReplyDeleteWe have a new court date: the 28th July!!
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy....
Hope because the things are moving!!
I hope for everyone of you
We just got a new court day for the end of July and we were originally scheduled mid May. Things are moving now.
ReplyDeleteWe have a new date of July 27th. i think 10 people from our agency got new dates given out today. Things ARE moving in the right direction. Keep having faith!
ReplyDeletewe have new c.d. 29th july too from europe
ReplyDeleteWe also received a new court date today of July 27th and our agency seems confident that MOWA will be writing recommendation letters.
ReplyDeleteWe also got a date of July 27th - that is going to be a very busy day at court!
ReplyDeleteI can't stop smiling and be so happy to read all these messagges...
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for being there!!!!!
Anon 1:27, Europe
The agency in this post is our agency. We received a new date of August 5. This is after receiving a date of July 20. (Our original court date was May 8.) This new date seemed more realistic since the MOWA closure. I never once believed the MOWA would come in from their training and write letters "at the court's request." However, I did hope that for once our situation would go as planned. At least we're moving in a positive direction, and I hope for all of us, the court closure does not occur.
ReplyDeleteAny idea why some agencies would be reporting the no closure but others wouldn't? Any idea why some US agencies have court dates and others don't? Just wondering if our agency isn't doing everything they could be? Thoughts? This is all so confusing.
ReplyDeleteOn a brighter note, congratulations and blessings on those families who are receiving court dates. What incredible news for you!
Anon 2:35,
ReplyDeleteWe are from Europe!!!... (Anon 1:27 and 1:59)
;-)
Ethiopap, do you have a court date yet? i hope so!
ReplyDeleteThanks for asking anon 2:47! Nope, no court date for me yet :-(
ReplyDeleteAnon 2:35, apparently several agencies went to re-submit their cases and were told by the court that they would not be assigned court dates until after MOWA reopens. It seems this is what happened with my agency--maybe yours is in the same position.
Anon. 2:35 - I have a possible answer to your question, but if I had all the answers we wouldn't be in this mess! :) Our agency told us that the reason they got new dates quickly was because they were the first to petition the court for new dates. I think it all hinges on how quickly an agency goes to the court and asks for new dates. Even though our agency told us it was informed of the court not closing this year, I'll believe it when I see it! I hope this helps in some small way.
ReplyDeleteWe didn´t get a new court date yet.
ReplyDeleteWe received our court date today: 14th of august - which highly indicates that the court is not closing or at least is postponing closure!
ReplyDeleteyou ever wonder why everybody post anonymously and NO ONE post their agency name. Its because its a bunch of crap and seriously ppl don't want to hurt their own chances of "squeaking" thru, even if it means one more child is robbed of their culture, their family and all in the name of US dollars. honestly sad and pitiful.. when you post the news you tell it... not just get ppl in hysterics and believing there own case is free of ethical issues. I had friends at Addis U to discuss this blog and this issue.. had to come see for myself. Pathetic privileged white ppl
ReplyDeleteanon 10:44....sorry you feel that way.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry also, anon 10:44. Not that it'll make it more tolerable to you, but I try to post only what is passed on by agencies (licensed to operate in Ethiopia), and the majority of people do tell me which agency the info is coming from, so these aren't just baseless rumors. We all love Ethiopia which is why we want to adopt from there. Again, I'm sorry that's how you feel :-(
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:44 why you are posting anonymous if so "valiente" are you?.
ReplyDeleteWe are very courageous and your also that also you are anonymous I hope that soon have their dates the mia is 8/8 from Europe
ReplyDeleteKisses
I'm sad and confused. Our first court date should be in the first week of the ban, we have a MOWA letter - thus, where is my court date?!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all with new court dates (sometimes the 2nd court date after the ban) and fingers crossed for passing court successfully
anon 10:44. you obviously have NO idea how much we LOVE our children with ALL of our HEARTS. if you think that anyone has anything but good intentions for these children, you are wrong. we all love these children and want the absolute best for them including keeping their culture alive wherever they are living. i am so sorry that you are so negative. i love my son more than anything and want nothing but the best life that i can give him.
ReplyDeleteAttention PAP's: anon at 10:44 wants our reaction to their comments. It would be in the best interest of the situation and our childrens' future to take a deep breath before reacting, as anybody can read this blog.
ReplyDeleteAnon 10:44 - I'm happy to see that Addis U accepts students with good English skills; I am truly impressed (I couldn't type coherently on an Amheric blog). It is true, I am a priviledged white person. Not in the rich sense, but the American way of life has given me opportunities that so few others receive. That is neither fair nor right, mind you. I don't deserve what I get, and I don't deserve my Ethiopian daughter. But I have been blessed, and I do not turn these blessings down. I do, however, try to spread God's message and His blessings to others. So I completely sympathize with your frustration and your sense of culture theft for the children of your country who are adopted by one of us who are white, or brown, or tan, or whatever our skin color. With all of that said, it does not stop my love for my baby girl. Nor does it end my care for the people of your country. You have a rich tradition that I respect, and my daughter will be raised to respect it. I think a priviledged white dude from America can do a decent job of raising an Ethiopian-born child; I promise to try my best, at the vert least!
