Today, a US agency confirmed that the courts would remain open at least through the end of August.

Another large US agency reports that since MOWA will be closed until the 23rd, the Federal court has decided to remain open for an additional 2 weeks, until the 21st of August. The courts will be closed from August 22 to sometime around September 25th. According to this agency, MOWA reports that they will be available to review files beginning on July 23rd, and will have letters for the court ready starting on the 24th.

This agency also confirms that the investigation into abandonment cases is over and that the ban is lifted.

*4 US agencies and 1 European saying the courts won't close (it's unknown if they meant they won't close at all, or won't close at the usual time), 1 European agency saying they will close a week late, 1 US agency saying they will be open at least through most of August, and 1 US agency saying courts will close on August 22nd.

  1. I know which agency is saying the court is closing August 22nd. They are a large, well-known, reputable agency. I believe them. Hopefulyy the court can fit all of us in before then.

  2. CHSFS is saying the courts will be closed for August, they are still unsure about September. (Not an official announcement from them though)

  3. Ack, too late at night. I meant CHSFS is saying the courts will be OPEN through August. Sorry. And since they never report rumors, I am taking this as very good news.

  6. Our rep in Addis said, that MOWA will be reopened on July 22 and that the court will be open through August. The juge will also treat 35 cases a day (and not like before "only" 20 a day). All pending cases of our Europian Agency have new court dates on 28 + 29 of July and on 10 of August. Ours is on 29th of July - I just booked our flights and I'm happy, happy, happy... A big THANK YOU to EthioPAP for collecting all this informations the last 2 months - it was very helpfull because we just got this news now from our agency. Good luck to all!

  8. Anyone know the typical timeline from paperwork being filed in the courts to actually getting a court date? Our paperwork was filed today... just curious as to others' experiences!

  10. I'm waiting too... anxiously.... Hopefully we'll make it before the closure. I'm from Denmark by the way and other people from our agency have been given a court date. The agency expects us to have news this week.

  12. Janen, anon 2:16 - anon 12:43 here. Thank you, it does not really make me feel better but it's - in a way - good to know that I am not alone. It's hard to read that others have already the 2nd 2nd court date.

I'm from Europe, too. When did your rep went to the court - Wed 8 July? And do you have MOWA letters and could pass court at any time?

  13. anon 2:26; I have no idea when the rep went to court, we're not informed of that, and I have no idea of how the system works since some from our agency already have court dates. But; I believe they file the cases according to when they were referred. We had our referral after the ban kicked in.
I'm sure we have no MOWA letter yet.

Hopefully we'll get news today or tomorrow.

  18. Yes we could! We would be there on 10th August for a week...

  19. We may be there....hmmm...how does this getorganized?

Our agency doesn't let us buy tickets until we pass court. Once that happens they get our visa date and then we are allowed to get tickets. So, our date is the 29th of July but I don't know when we will be there yet....

  20. Do some agencies (maybe European agencies) travel for their court date or right after? Our agency (in the US) makes us wait for our embassy date which is about 6 weeks after passing court. yuck, more waiting but at least it will be fun planning our trip after we pass!

  21. In Denmark we are allowed to travel right after courtdate. However the agency recommends us to travel 3 weeks after to shorten our stay.

  22. Are there any new information, if the courts will be open only till the end of August or also in September?

  23. We can travel two weeks after a succesful court date. We had a same advise than you Anon 4.00, not to buy ticets yet. NOthing is not sure before passing court.

Let us all know, when you have passed court. This is interesting to see, will they write those letters right after MOWA will open.
