One US agency (wishes to remain anonymous) submitted their cases to the court Tuesday July 7th, and was told that all their cases were accepted and to expect new court dates in the near future. This agency thought it could even be possible that they would begin to hear cases by the end of this week.

*Note: Obviously this is not one of the 2 agencies that reported the MOWA closing.

  1. People from Germany, Spain, Denmark... any news???

  2. My theory is that there is a new process, and that either they are not closing as rumored or their work is done and they need a break. Regardless. I have faith that they are not hanging us out to dry.

  3. I'm from Denmark - sorry no news at all from our agency - not even that the investigation is over...

I believe in all the good rumors though ((-:

  4. SPAIN... NO NEWS. AT 14:05H LOCAL TIME = 15:05H ETHIOPIA TIME

  5. No news from North-Europa - not even that the investigation is over!!!

  6. Perhaps a distinction needs to be made so that we are all saying the same thing and can understand one another better.

    1. There is the ban.
    2. Because of the ban an investigation incurred. The investigation has several parts to it, i.e. information gathering, writing of reports, reading of reports by MOWA and the courts, approval of reports by MOWA and the courts, etc.
3.Assignment of new court dates, which can occur in any number of ways.
    4.Passing court.

My understanding is that we are in the middle of stage 2 - past information gathering and somewhere in the report process. It seems like they are not going to give some countries, agencies, orphanages (other than the three originally approved in May) special privileges or court dates ahead of anyone else. So....

This is my breakdown and understanding. Does anyone have a different impression?

  7. As far as I am informed I would say we are now at the beginning of step 3, but for me the MOWA approval (you mean the letter needed for court?) belongs to step 3.

Nevertheless, the investigation is/seems to be over and something is going on (today).

  8. Our US agency tells us a lot of times, things are acutally done, agency by agency, or now orphange by orphange. I know that with the orphange Enat Alem where our baby is from, there will be certain days court dates are given, so the orphange rep doesnt have to appear every day. They will group them.

  9. Oh, also. I do somewhat thing that certain agencies get different privledges...which I dont agree with. I have a feeling its who you know and the relationship the agencies have with orphanges and the government. Just my two cents.

  10. Where did the breakdown of the process come from? I have not seen this before? Stage 2? No. I think they have restructured and we cannot base our current postion on outdated procedure. I have heard from my agency that the investigation is OVER and the ban is LIFTED. We are currently waiting to see what they say about the new procedure as the begin to implement it.....TODAY.

  11. Anon 7:02 I was only referring to the ban and the process to resolve it. The letter approving paperwork is separate from that. That would go along with passing court in my breakdown. Also when you say that something is going on today, what are you referring to? Have you gotten word on something?

Anon 7:03 my agency also talks about the groupings but I do not think that the courts are considering our cases yet within the groups that are getting dates.

Anon 7:04 I actually do not think that there is any favoritism there. That has been the one consistent comment that my husband and I have heard throughout this entire adoption process, and since this ban we have done extensive research and have reached out to many individuals with international influence. Repeatedly we have been told to do nothing and wait this out. In fact, using influence is greatly frowned upon and backfires. I beleive that the only advantage of a close relationship or knowing someone is the amount of information and the kind of updates that are given out but not court dates.

  12. Anon 6:44 I think you are right. According to my agency we are somewhere in the last phases of step 2, but apparently other agencies think that we are in the beginning of step 3. I personally believe that the reason that some agencies are saying that the investigation is over, and some are saying it isn't, may be that the first ones are talking about the police investigation and the second ones are talking about the entire step 2 that you describe.
To anon 7:02 no I don't think the other person is talking about the letter for court, I think she's talking about approval of reports from the investigation, which is part of step 2.

  13. Anon 7:14 What new procedure? Where did that come from? That is speculation. As I specifically stated in my post, the breakdown is MY perception that I am using and was explaining to all in order to try and put all on the same page because I think that the different words, ie investigation have different meanings to different people. In no way am I trying to imply that I am an authority or have an inside track.

  14. Irene - we are on the same page!

  15. Yes,
Remember. All agencies were tlod to bring the files and abnd cases to court today!!!!! They are going to tell us what will happen today!!!! Perhaps the are unveiling a new procedure, perhaps they are giving court dates. So IO dont really know where you got all of the 'steps' you laid out for us. We dont even know what the NEW procedure will be and you are basing all of your ideas on the OLD process. You are also stating as fact without citing your sources??? WTH, unless you are an official, you should not try to lay out supposed factual info based on YOUR understanding. There is a NEW procedure and we dont know what it is yet.

I agree that your post is crap. You sound like you are schooling us on something you know nothing about. You cannot know more than us. We all know nothing at this point.
Call you agency and get the story straight before you try to correct us.

  17. Anon 7:25 - you need to chill out. Take a deep breath or take a break from this blog. Your nastiness is not helping anyone or anyting. Again - I SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT IS MY OWN INTERPRETATION AND I ASKED IF ANYONE HAD A DIFFERENT ONE!!!!!!!!!!! You do not need to jump down my throat. I also specifically said that I DID NOT MEANT TO IMPLY THAT I AM AN AUTHORITY. What is your deal? We are all on edge here - be nice....you catch more bees with honey...

  18. OMG - you people are really obnoxious. I was trying to do something helpful but you are all so blinded by your anger and hurt that you cannot see that. Who the hell am I to school anyone? I am not doing that...OMG. This was supposed to be a forum of info not a bitch session.

Agreed, 6:44 created this. The steps, stages, explainations of the ban/inmvestigation were nver explained like that. In fact nothing was ever explained at all. Please ignore the 6:44 post as the poster does not know what he/she is talking about

    ReplyDelete
  20. Please guys, it is obvious that 6:44 stated her interpretatin as fact. and that she is misinformed. Pay no mind.

  21. Margaritas---

OK, guys I have a bunch of margartias at my house. Yall come over and we can drink them together. It sounds like we all need that.

  22. Anon 7:25 Our agency has not been told to come to court today. A friend talked to them just this morning, and they said no news.
I really do not understand why you are nagging Anon 6:44 for telling how she sees this proces. We (she) are not talking about old or new procedures in relation to the adoption process, we are talking about how it seems that this hole ban-investigation-thing is going on. If you have the impression that it takes place in another set of steps, feel free to post....

  23. and there it is ;) what would a day on tis blog be without a "cat fight"!? (this is said in total jest). i may have to start forming a theory where this whole "mess" has been created as a social experiment...to study how people react in situations of extreme stress, helplessness and confusion.

mind you, i ACHE at the need for this to be over and am not poking fun at anyone. just trying to divert attention and relieve stress :) hoping and PRAYING that we get the good news we so desperately need today.

    ReplyDelete
  24. For the last time - I DID NOT STATE IT AS FACT!!! What part of "this is my interpretation" is not clear? You know what if you people want to focus on whether or not I am stating fact - that is your problem. I guess reading comprehension is not a requirement for adoption. Good luck to you all.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Irene - thank you so much. I really don't need another reason to be in tears here. I was really just trying to help an international group of people be on the same page. My reading comprehension joke clearly does not apply to you. Thank you for backing me up.

  26. My goodness "the steps were never explained like this" - what is new here???? 1. There's a ban, 2. there is an investigation, 3 we get court dates 4. we pass....I'm sorry what is so difficult to understand slash what is new about that.
My God I could do with a Margarita thank you LOL :D
Anon 6:44 just let it go, people are obviously overheated.

  27. 6:44.

I second it, you created crap. Now that you laid out your fabricated stages, people are specualting whate stage we are on. PLEASE unsderstand that 6:44's explaination was MADE UP. Please do not speculate what stage we are on. This was indeed her own creation. Despite 6:44's good intentions she made a mess of things and made you all think she had an outline of objectives and timeline of the investigation.
WE DO NOT KNOW what the courts or MOWA are doing and she does not either. Remember that and yes, I will have a margartia.

  28. TEQUILLA!!!!!!!!!!!! I am letting it go! :)

  29. Great,,, Frozen or on the rocks, Salt or no salt, strawberry or lime.
Seriously. I will get started after I do the dishes from breakdfast. We had a TON left over after the 4th

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ok anon 7:41 it was made up there never was a ban (step 1) nor an investigation (step 2) you're right, they just did all this to bother us.
I'm in for Tequila...(do sure hope that I will get to step 3 AND 4, although you don't think they exist).

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes, there were 1-4. But one and 2 were done at the same time. Now we are waiting on court dates---DUH....We did not need the 6:44 post or the rebuttle. Please. drink.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wait, what was this post about again? An agency submitted cases and they were accepted? Isn't that good news? Is there a reason to fight? I'll take a margarita, please, and who cares that it's before 10 o'clock in the morning!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wouldn't it be great if there was a timeline? Seriously, I am working from home today and I think that I am going to go to the Mexican joint down the street for lunch and sit outside with my dog and have a LARGE margarita with extra tequilla and salt and celebrate the fact that there was never a ban...hahaha! Irene - you are funny!

    ReplyDelete
  34. you do need to talk to your agencies

  35. ok, it's me with the suggestion of valium and the social experiment theory...just sitting here reading these posts drinking my non-spiked coffee. (thinking about how good a bloody mary would taste at the pool later tho ;)) am turning red at some of these posts! i know that you are ALL lovely and loving women...wouldn't be here otherwise! and i'm just picturing how we'll all be whooping it up once court dates start being heard and passing...hopefully it'll be all sweetness and light then :) again, praying for good news and sending you all grace and love...

  38. well, it sounds like your "craziness" is normal and healthy.

  39. Can someone clarify something? To get a court date we needed a letter of recommendation from MOWA, right? Is there a second document from MOWA on the actual court date? Do we know if the original recommendation letters need to be re-done?

  41. some families in Spain were informed that Mowa closed until 24 July, and their trips canceled!

  42. Thanks, Jill...great saying!! I actually have the same questions that you pose above? Sadly, if things progress the way they have been, I fear that we will have an answer until it actually happens.
