An email:

My agency, who is very careful about passing along information, has just informed me that the court asked agencies to come on Wednesday to the court with their files. They are not sure what will happen on that day but this is HUGE progress.

  1. My agency is in court today for this. Are they telling different agencies to come on different days?

  2. Anon, I think that is exactly what's happening. Didn't someone comment that they heard another agency was told to come on Tuesday? Perhaps they're dealing with this an agency (or a few agencies) at a time?

  3. Anon at 10:56, was your agency told to bring the files for the abandoned case? are you referring to new cases or older cases or all? Will you please update us when you hear from them? I do not think our agency has been told this at all:(

  4. My (US) agency said that nothing has happened and there is nothing new. Agencies may be going to court but they are not being heard.

  5. i can second this information. the email said that the court asked the agencies to come back wed. it sounded like that is what they told all agencies/orphanages. they (the courts) did not say what would happen on wed, tho. personally, i'm not getting my h opes up. i've let that happen way too many times now only to be disappointed. right now, my main frustration is that time is running out. each day is precious. if the courts weren't closing soon, it wouldn't be nearly as frustrating!

  6. If our agency was told this info, they do not consider it concrete because they are not publicly putting forth that info. This torture is cruel and unusual. How are you holding up 16 months?

  7. oh, let me add that i DO believe what was told to us...b/c this is the first update ever, from a VERY conservative agency. we are told NOTHING unless it's concrete. our rep has been frequenting the court every other day or so.

  8. We were told today (from a different US agency than that orginial post) that we should expect news tomorrow or Wednesay.

  9. Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. News is always coming tomorrow. I've heard nothing from my agency - not surprised. They probably can't get through *insert eye roll*

  10. I sure hope you all are right. Supposedly our agency has someone at court everyday but I guess that they can tell us anything - we are at their mercy.

  11. Anon 11:24, I'll update when I hear something. These were all old cases that weren't heard due to the abandonment issue. Our agency said that MOWA has our papers, so I don't know if the agency took anything or not. They were in court last week and told to come back today.

  12. If MOWA has the papers, does that mean that they have to be re-approved by MOWA if they already had been, i.e. you had a court date already that has passed because of the crisis? I guess even knowing that info doesn't help us know when we will have nwe court dates. :(

  13. I have heard that you have to have MOWA approval every time your case goes to court. So, from what i think is true, yes they woudl have to be re-approved by MOWA

  14. I have heard nothing from my agency, but I would assume that the Court is actually talking to orphanges rather than with agencies, as I remember sometime ago someone in this forum was told this has never been an agency rather an orphanage issue. This would mean that should one orphanage get new court dates, they may get them for various different agencies in different countries that work for them at the same time?

  15. I agree with anonymous 12:32. MOWA has to write some letter that court can go ok.

  16. Our agency that was in court today-all day-was told to come back Wednesday.

I'm wondering what day they will be told to come back once Wednesday gets here...

  17. Yes, you have to have the MOWA letter and - as far as I know - this letter (i. e. a summary of the documents) is written on the day of the court date or the day before.
