A US agency is reporting that the scheduled meeting with the orphanage directors (to find out the court's ruling concerning abandonment cases) has been postponed until Tuesday.

  4. Do you think they keep postponing because of they are not sure how to proceed and trying to gather how to go about getting us all through court and stuff?! I cant imagine what they are waiting for at this point. I hope its soon.

  5. My agency said they postponed today because one (I'm assuming essential) person never showed up.

  6. I think this just often happens in Ethiopia.
Probably they just postponed the meeting without any great reason.
At least for the moment it is "only" postponed until tomorrow.
Let us hope for good news tomorrow.
By the way, I check this site about 100 times a day ;-)

  7. And what if this essential person does not show up tomorrow as well :-(?

    This is indeed frustrating.

  8. Well now it is almost evening in Denmark, so I guess I checked this site 700 times till now LOL.
Well good news must come tomorrow!!

  10. It could be so easy: Just take the list with the postponed court dates, keep them in chronoligal order, read the summary of MOWA, stamp the documents and done. But instead ... ok, again waiting for tomorrow.

  11. Do you think there is ANY way that they will approve cases at this meeting? If the cases have already been approved by MOWA and the oprhanage directors and the courts are already there, could they do that?

  12. Since we never had a court date, do the courts even have all the paperwork on our cases? I cannot see how they could approve our cases without our agency reps presenting our paperwork to the courts.

  13. I just wish that this torture would end...for everyone...the kids and us!

  14. As hard as this situation can be for all of us we should never forget the much bigger challenges that many people in Ethiopia face every day. I am sure the local authorities will do their very best to protect the interest of the abandoned children in Addis, both those that await adoption and those that need to take their places in the orphanages by approving the adoption of cases on hold before the summer closure.

  15. My heart is in Ethiopia. Not only because my child was left behind in Ethiopia.
I really love the people and I do know, what problems they have to face everyday.
But still, what is now happening is a desaster especially for us and our child.
I unfortunately will not be able to change the whole world.
    I really wish I could.
My problems, leaving our child behind, is nothing compared to the situatíon in ET.

But still, I suffer, in my personal way...

  16. As we are all (in ET and in the US) suffering. Some of us just show our suffering in different ways. All we can offer for each other is patience and someone to talk to. This time next year we will all be home with our children, thankful to be near them and some of us on our next adoption because the cause far out weights the problems.

  17. I very much doubt that they would approve cases at this meeting. I don't think the court kept our paperwork (the agency has it), and we never had a MOWA letter. It seems unlikely that they would issue a blanket approval. I would love to be proven wrong, though. :-)

  18. I think court procedures must be followed as usual, and I dont think that a meeting with the orphanages has anything to do with court cases, only with future procedures and/or results of the investigation. But once they have been informed, I hope that the court can proceed issuing court dates - in any case the meeting tomorrow must be a step on the way to our babies.

  19. Ugh! Do they know what they are doing to these kids?? Each day spent in an institution is another day their brain is not attaching to a primary caregiver and not forming the essential nuerological connections (in the first year of life)

Praying they get this resolved and that they will take the court cases IN ORDER. We have been waiting for a court date since Jan for pete's sake!

  20. Oh please let tomorrow bring good news!

  21. Any news yet??? Is it showing that I'm anxious??

Hoping for good news today! These kids need to come home!

  23. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of anyone passing on a Wednesday that had an open case? I haven't and thought it was odd that if Wed. is the day for open cases, shouldn't some of us be hearing of others passing? Just curious.

  26. Sorry everyone! I know the agency that gave the information yesterday about the meeting being postponed has been trying to contact their in-country rep to no avail. Another agency who has also mentioned the meeting has been having internet troubles. The second I hear anything you know I will post! I would love to know if there is indeed an end in sight.

  27. Anon 9:53, that's a good question. I haven't heard of anyone passing on a Wed either. So, will all these abandonment cases only be heard on Wednesdays though? My case was "temporarily closed", so I'm wondering what that means for me when they do lift the ban. Will I have to wait the same amount of time as someone with a new case?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think that is what the Ethiopian courts are trying to determine how to handle these cases at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I would be interested in knowing how many cases are waiting for a NEW court date and how many cases (not affected by the ban) are currently passing each day.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Im so confused. Is the ban over? What is acutally going on. Are we waiting to hear that the ban is over or waiting to hear of a new court date? So much conflicted info. Sorry, just feel hopeless. :(

  31. I am confused and hopeless, too.
And I bet this meeting was again postponed :-(

  32. We passeed on a Wed a couple of weeks ago on our 1 child that wasn't affected by the ban

  33. to Anom12:54: Sorry, I'm confused: when was your court date?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I do not understand why you are talking about "Wednesday", ist it magig? I thought court dates are every day.

  35. At least I know that there are court dates on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
