An email:
I received word from our agency that the courts are going to remain open through Aug/Sept. This is great news!
*Note: At least one US agency and 2 European agencies have been hearing this rumor over the last few weeks as well.

FANTASTIC!! The ET program director from my agency yesterday said she thought this would not be resolved until after the rainy season. et's hope they resolve it NOW and then work through the rainy season processing cases in court!
ReplyDeleteI'm taking this as just a rumor for now, but I HOPE IT'S TRUE!
ReplyDeleteWould be great, if they really want to give our children the chance to find their families as soon as somehow possible.
ReplyDeleteI would appreciate this decision very much.
Hopefully it is true.
I am at the point where I am giving up. The boy referred to us has been in an orphanage since he was a day old- he is now 11 months old and no longer a baby, which since this will be our first child is what we wanted. It seems like there is no end in site and really the people being hurt are the orphans who have to wait longer. I am so disappointed in the Ethiopian government, and all agencies for not being able to collectively push an end to this situation. I think we are going to start this process from the beginning and hopefully have better luck.
ReplyDeleteWho is your agency? just curious where this info is from. My agency hasn't heard word yet.
ReplyDeleteTracy, since agency names are no longer being mentioned on this blog, it's best to consider things like this rumor until more agencies report on it or an official statement is issued. If true, more and more agencies will eventually all say the same thing. So far, 4 agencies that I know of have heard this same rumor, though most are reporting it for now as a rumor only. As someone affected by the hold, I do hope it's true! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy agency said that this is the decision that came out of all the meetings last week. They said nothing of it being a rumor, but stated it as fact. But I am not going to mention my agency. I have no reason to not believe this. This is what they were told in their conference call. That is all I know. I am praying that all our kids would be brought home soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for clarifying, Anon!
ReplyDeleteThank you to the person who gave more information. This is wonderful news!
ReplyDeleteour agency reported to us yesterday that the ban is not lifted and they were not aware of the investigation being over. They told us there was no end in sight at the moment
ReplyDeleteWe were also told yesterday, that the investigation is not over yet, but a leader of one of the big orphanages has been told that it will be very soon (sounded like this week or next week).
ReplyDeleteAccording to our agency the rumour about the summer closure being cancelled can't be confirmed yet either, but they have heard it as a rumour too (so there is still hope). To the person who just wants to give up their boy and start over - I'm shocked that you can even think this way - as if you were buying a new car or something and you can't get the blue one.
I think we should be proud that our childrens land of origin takes these things seriously and makes sure that no children were bought or taken away from their mothers by force, etc.
My little daughter is also in the orphanages since she was few days old.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow she will have her first birthday.
I will never give her up!!!
My heart belongs to her and even if I have to wait another six month...
To Anon who wants to give up: I cannot believe that you are going to do this. You cannot give him up just because he is now 11 months instead of - do not know - 4. I hope it was the desperation who wrote this paragraph.
ReplyDeleteWe, too, were told by our agency director that the courts will not close. (Will not state agency, but it is a US agency)
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine giving up my child because he is no longer a "baby". He was 6 weeks at referral and is now 7 months. He was meant to be our child. If we have to wait to be assured future children will have become orphans legally then so be it.
PLEASE let's not "rip on" the AP that wrote about giving up. instead, let's have grace. obviously she (?) is in pain and having a bad day, as I know I have had many of over this roller-coaster five weeks. we are all disappointed that are children are aging with out us...i ache to touch my sweet boy's face every time i look at his pics. and while we don't know when that day will be, we have to have faith that it is coming soon. he is waiting for you! my prayer for you (and the rest of us) is that you remain strong and faithful for this child...keep fighting the fight. AND please keep in mind that once you do finally hold your child, he will be your son forever...thre is so much more to come in his life!
