An email:

Our agency (United States) told us that they are going to start reopening cases and rescheduling court dates starting on July 2nd. I don’t know how long it will take to get all of us new court dates, but our agency is optimistic that our cases, at least from our agency, will be heard before the closure. They are very careful about not passing on rumors, so I tend to believe them when they say cases will be reopened late next week.

*Note: This is not the same agency that mentioned the July 2nd date earlier this week.

  1. So they will already start reopening cases on July 2nd? There will not be any announcement in advance?
I truely hope that the way they are treating the postponed cases will be a fair way. Not a matter of good connections, money ...

  2. Right, hopefully they will be heard chronologically. I wonder when the emailer's court date was? Ours was May 21.

  3. I read something similar on someone's adoption blog. They said that the agency had to re-submit all their paperwork to re-open their case before they could get a new date, but they said that the court is going to make abandonment cases a top priority.

  5. Our cour date was on May 12th.
Hopefully they will re-schedule the court dates chronologically. And I would really appreciate, if they give priority on our cases.
In my opinion this would only be fair. But I doubt, that fairness will be the leader on this whole process...

  7. I was on May 18th. Chronologically sounds like the fair way to do things but we all know that there doesnt seem to be a rhyme or reason to how they do things at times. so, what exactly does our agency need to do to get us a new court date? i am nervous about that getting done.

  9. Definitely, you get to go first! You must be going crazy! I do hope the end is in sight - or at least some concrete knowledge.

  10. My court date way 5/22 and I hope things start moving also. I know this is happening for a reason, but it is very difficult to wait.

  11. We were told at one point that the court sometimes schedules cases from the same agency on the same day, because it's logistically easier. It seems likely that they might assign blocks of court dates to each agency, rather than going through 300+ cases and trying to put them in the same order that they originally were. (That's just my speculation, though.) Of course, if they were grouped by agency to begin with, they could end up being in order after all. Hopefully, it will only take a few weeks!

  12. I spoke with our case manager today. Our agency does not give out anything until it is rock solid but she confirmed that they were hearing very positive rumors and are obviously hoping for the best. She did say that she wondered if perhaps there will be different timelines depending on the orphanage that the child is from....not so sure what she meant by that. Our court date was May 25. We really have nothing to complain about compared with the stories other folks tell. With that said, this wait is long and I look forward to its end!!

  13. My court date was May 4th. I'm so mentally exhausted with these trials and I'm so incredibly disappointed with my agency through all this. They have not communicated ONE fact nor would they even confirm that progress has taken place since this all started. It's so frustrating and I would never recommend them to anyone!

  15. Different timelines depending on which orphanage the child is coming from?
What could be the reason for that?

It makes sense to me, that they assign blocks of court dates to each agency. As far as I know, they have done this in the past as well.
At least, we were several couples from our agency, who all had their court dates on three days one after another...
