An email:

My European agency confirmed (the first time) that the investigation (police and orphanages) is officially over and that they found nothing suspicious. All currently existing cases are ok. The next step will be a meeting between the court president and the orphanages, it should have taken place last Friday, then Monday/Tuesday and now it is postponed to an indefinite date.

They assume that the cases have to go through the whole process again, i. e. need new court dates.

  1. Thank you for the information.

The fact that your agency does not know where your papers are, makes me wonder a bit.
Shouldn`t the rep of your agency be either having the papers himself or informed about the place where they are right now???

  2. I concur. That is a horrifying prospect that it might be unknown where the paperwork even IS for all of these cases....

  3. So...basically, we are in the same place that we have been for a few weeks now. Nothing new. We are still on the indefinite hold path...which leads me to believe that this will not be resolved before the court closure. The lack of information and communication is so disheartening and miserable. I am completely discouraged.

  4. It confuses me that on the one hand they are talking about this July 2nd and on the other hand they are now saying that the meeting is postponed to an indefinite date?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Please don't worry. Obviously, the agencies get the informaton at different times. Moreover, we do not know who will take part in the meeting on 2nd July if it will take place.

  6. I think it's s a great sign that more agencies are confirming the investigation is over and that meetings are taking place to decide how to proceed. :-)

(*also, I deleted a line in the email that was causing confusion at the request of the source)

  7. If the State Department does not declare it - it is not official or necessarily true. The only peace of mind that these reports should be providing to anyone is that the situation appears to be moving in a positive direction. Also, given the haphazard nature of the Ethiopian government and how they do things, one would be fooling themself if they got to excited before they receive an actual court date.

  8. But HOPE is the only thing we have at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  9. very true, indeed.

  10. And Hope I am losing

  11. The thing that gives me hope is that I know the Ethiopian authorities will try their best to do what is in the best interest of the children, which means letting them receive the love they deserve from their adoptive families as soon as possible once the investigation is closed and all allegations are cleared.

  12. I suspect that this meeting that keeps getting postponed and the July 2 date are two totally different things. I'm not as concerned about this delayed meeting as I otherwise would be, because our agency was the one who said they can request our new court date on July 2, and I trust them 100%. It seems like this postponed meeting might not be about our particular cases, but instead have to do with procedures that are to be followed in the future. This is just my guess; I could be totally wrong, but our agencies are the ones who are handling our cases now and it sounds like this meeting is for the orphanage directors only. I'm going by the July 2 date (and hoping that one doesn't get postponed.)

  13. Melissa, I was thinking the same thing. The meeting is with the orphanage directors. I'm remaining hopeful that cases will start to get re-scheduled July 2nd.

Thank you. This makes sense and would be really great.

I can not wait until our child is OURS by official statements...

  16. These few days without news have been hard. All the agencies have been quiet lately. Hopefully that means that they were right and that there WILL be news tomorrow, or at least next week.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Our European agency still says that the investigation is over since about two weeks.

But the also say, the have NO idea AT ALL, when it is going on with our holded cases and in which way. This does not sound very hopeful to me :-(

    ReplyDelete
  18. We need news....but we didn´t get any new informations today. We think that nobody knows what will happed next.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think all of the agencies have been so quiet this week b/c they are all gearing up for the GREAT news tomorrow that our cases will be heard again and we will all get through before closure!!! Lets have positive thoughts and a lot of prayers!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hoping for relief tomorrow!!!!

Ethiopap, please do not let us wait too long ;-)
You know, Europe is about 6 to 8 hours in front of U.S. ;-)

Just kidding, you well deserve your sleep, if you can sleep...

Please, please, please, heaven let this nightmare come to an end.

    Thanks!

  21. I will post whatever I hear the second I hear it, I promise! :)

Please, do pass on whatever your agencies are saying the rest of this week. Even if it's disappointing news, we're all anxious to know if there's an end in sight or not.

  22. Thank you so much, Ethiopap, what you are doing for us is just wonderful.

In my opinion you and your husband deserve what we call in Germany "Bundesverdienstkreuz"

    ReplyDelete
  23. Good night we will writte you as soon as we have any information.

    ReplyDelete
  24. No news for us today:(

    ReplyDelete
  25. Has the people, who were told about the 2nd of July by their agencies, talked to them today?

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Irene

Good question. I would also be interested in that...

    ReplyDelete
  27. No. They are on the west coast and don't get in until 7am pacific time. we have 40 more minutes until she gets in the office.

i am as anxious as you are....

    ReplyDelete
  28. Thank you Ethiopap! You have provided us all with a great outlet.

So...has anyone heard anything? They must be wrapping up for the day in Ethiopia right now and it does not look good at all. I am sick to my stomache.

    ReplyDelete
  29. My agency never mentioned the 2nd of July. But I talked to them this morning, and I have been informed that our rep triey to pass our case today. So I guess something is going on over there...

    ReplyDelete
  30. No way!!! Really?!?!?! That is amazing...have they tried before?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Anon 7:22- keep us updated!

Anon 7:23- and I assume they weren't successful? is yours a new case or did you have a previous courtdate?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Oh and my agency never said anything about the 2nd either...which only means that our in-country rep would not confirm an unfounded rumor...it does not mean that nothing was happening.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Anonymous 7:23

Did you have a court date for today or is your rep just trying to pass your case without any court date???

    ReplyDelete
  34. Our court date was on 12 May but didn't pass... I don't know if they had a court date for today; I won't hear any news before tomorrow. As soon as I know more, I will inform you - I am so nervous...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Our court date was May 15th...I am having such a hard time focusing at work...oy!!! This is torture.

    ReplyDelete
  36. My agency reported the July 2nd date.....but they are on the West Coast, and our case manager will need to attempt to call Ethiopia once she gets in, which sometimes takes several attempts and some time....
We all need to take a breath, say a prayer, and hope for good news.....

  37. Another thought. . maybe ET is w/o power or internet today. That seems to happen a lot and maybe that is why we are not hearing anything. I guess it is a least a possibility. I would rather believe that than believe that there is just no news.

    ReplyDelete
  38. You are right. I've been told that they face power problems lately...

    ReplyDelete
  39. WAITING FOR THE AFTERNOON and maybe... ETHIOPIA NEWS!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. regarding them having power, has anyone's agency had contact w/ ET today. i guess if they did then we would know that ET did in fact have power for at least some of the day today.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Por favor alguien de Galicia tiene noticias???

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have not hear anything, I am hoping they are planning to surprise us. However, I have nnot heard a peep from them since early June.

    ReplyDelete
  43. By the way: The power problem in Ethiopia is selfmade as the sell the power to India.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yo no ablo espagnol but it looks like someone is talking about December??? What about December....

    ReplyDelete
  49. As I understand they are just talking about when they had their referrals, and none of them has had any information today.

    ReplyDelete
  50. They got their referral in December.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Gracias!!! I almost went into cardiac arrest.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yes, I'm spanish and they are talking about the date that they had the referals. One of them it was in december and the other one in March.
They also said that nobody have news today. Sorry about my translation

    ReplyDelete
  53. Somebody from our agency had contact with our in country rep today in Ethiopia, so they do have power.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well, there goes that theory! :( The State Department does not have any updates either.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I hope... I hope... I hope... and I pray...

    ReplyDelete
  56. The State Department took 10 days to make an announcement when the ban started. I'd like news a little sooner than ten days after the fact this time :o) Nothing from my agency - director says she can't get through to ET. Funny how that happens.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I had so much hope for today and now I am really really disappointed again :-((((

    ReplyDelete
  58. I have not done so but has anyone called the State Department? Maybe they would tell us something over the phone?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I just called - the person, Ruth Lincoln, was not at her desk. I left a message and hopefully she will call me back soon. But apparently there was a terrorist alert announced today for Addis Ababa. Ummm...can we catch a break...ever????

    ReplyDelete
  60. Terrorist alert?

Incredible, the whole situation is getting more and more absurd...

Will I ever see my child again?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Let's face it - no news today. Seems to be a "newsless" week. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  62. what else is new? newsless is useless. I am just an angry person now.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Our agency said they had contact with our representative in Ethiopia today and there will be an announcement tomorrow from the courts on how our cases will move forward. I'm not holding my breath!

    ReplyDelete
  64. the meeting of today has been cancelled, more news tommorow accourding my agency

    ReplyDelete
  65. I HOPE they will NOT postpone this announcement again tomorrow.
